Oakhaven Mystery
The police department is involved in an ongoing investigation involving a local nature park. Two local youths made a gruesome discovery when they uncovered human remains in a cave east of town. The area of the park known as "The Cove" was recently hit by a tornado revealing the cave entrance.
While hiking in the County Park, Colby and Savannah Rathsmith came across a tree that had fallen over the trail. While working their way around the tree and along the rocky ridge, they were shocked to discover a cave. "We've hiked this trail many times and never noticed the cave entrance behind the old tree. Once the tree was gone, the cave was revealed," said Colby.
Near the entrance to the cave, the children discovered skeletal remains along with a few other items including two bullets, pieces of cloth, a few coins, and a pocket watch.
Detectives will try to identify the individual. They will also attempt to determine what he or she might have been doing in the cave.
